About KiwiCompass

Math teaching that pays attention.

KiwiCompass is adaptive math education software that teaches children aged 10–18 and helps homeschooling parents hand over the daily work of teaching mathematics.

When an explanation doesn’t make sense to your child, the next step matters. We want them to have another way into the idea, enough practice to understand it, and a chance to show they can do it on their own.

What KiwiCompass does

We take care of the sequence of lessons and the teaching inside them. You make room for math in your family’s day and keep an eye on how things are going.

Find the starting point

A child can be comfortable with one topic and missing an earlier idea in another. Placement and ongoing checks help us work out what needs attention before asking them to build on it.

Teach, explain, and practice

The program works through mathematics from foundations to calculus, with SAT Math and ACT Math preparation included. Explanations and practice respond to the child, so a difficult idea can be approached in smaller steps or from another angle.

Check what lasts

A correct answer after seeing a worked solution is a beginning. Fresh questions, module checks and Monthly Refresh help show what your child can do independently and what needs another visit.

Keep parents informed

Reports and participation alerts help you see what your child is working on without standing over every lesson. Course records and annual NWEA MAP Growth testing, paid for by us under the program, add further information about progress.

Careful teaching, all the way through

There’s a difference between getting through a page and understanding the idea on it. Our attention stays on the second, including when that means going back.

The reasoning changes the next explanation

Two children can give the same wrong answer for different reasons. KiwiCompass explores how the child reached it, then changes the explanation around the misunderstanding. A picture may help with fractions; another child may need each algebraic step written out.

The approach can change as the child learns

We use the patterns in a child’s responses to guide pace, practice and explanation. A useful approach today does not become a permanent label for how that child must learn.

Time for the explanation that finally makes sense

Explanations and practice are included without buying another tutoring hour. The program is available around your family’s schedule, with a weekly routine of at least seven active hours per child.

A separate path for each sibling

Children in the same family can start at different levels and move at different speeds. The founding offer covers the whole family for one monthly fee, including younger siblings when they reach age 10.

Progress you can inspect

Written goals, fresh checks and parent reports make the work visible. You can read a sample report and the payment and learning guarantee before deciding whether to enroll.

If you’re comparing approaches, Teaching Textbooks describes video lectures and video solutions as part of its teaching. KiwiCompass centers the next explanation on the child’s reasoning and response. Try our teaching examples to see what we mean.

Who uses KiwiCompass

KiwiCompass is for homeschooling families with children aged 10–18 who want sustained help with math teaching. That includes:

  • Parents who want to hand over daily explanations, practice and checking while staying involved in their child’s education.
  • Children who need earlier foundations revisited before the next topic will make sense.
  • Families with siblings at different math levels who need a separate pace for each child.
  • Students ready to move ahead or prepare for SAT Math or ACT Math.

You don’t need to choose a paid program to get something useful here. Our free check and resources are open to homeschooling parents who simply want a clearer next step.

The team behind KiwiCompass

KiwiCompass brings together mathematics, learning design and child development. Those responsibilities meet in the lesson: the mathematics needs to be exact, the explanation needs to make sense, and the child needs a routine they can keep.

Simon M.

Learning design

Studied mathematics and psychology and competed in mathematics at international level. Simon designs how the program teaches: which explanation to try first, when to change it, and what an efficient learning pattern looks like for a ten-year-old and a seventeen-year-old alike.

Alex R.

Mathematics

Competed in international mathematics competitions, including the International Mathematical Olympiad, and has spent five years teaching children of every age group. Alex writes the explanations, examples and checks inside the program, and keeps the mathematics exact.

Lisa N.

Child development

Studied mathematics and psychology and specializes in how children develop and how they study. Lisa shapes the routines, the pacing and the feedback, so a child stays confident while the work gets harder.

From testing families to founding families

We worked with a testing cohort before opening the Founding 20 offer. We’re now welcoming the first 20 enrolling families after that testing group, with a whole-family rate that stays theirs under the founding terms.

The work is personal for a family even when the teaching happens through software. We want you to see the explanations and the terms, ask your questions, and decide with a clear picture of what you’re choosing.

How KiwiCompass works

  1. Tell us about your family

The free application asks about your children’s math levels, what you’d like to change and the routine you can set aside. Choose email or phone follow-up. We discuss fit and goals before you decide whether to enroll.

  2. Find what each child needs next

Placement gives the program a starting point. As your child works, their answers and reasoning provide more information about the ideas they understand and the ones that need attention.

  3. Try the explanation that fits the problem

If your child adds the denominators in a fraction sum, simply displaying the correct answer leaves the misunderstanding in place. The program can show equal-sized pieces, work through the written steps, or change the example. It keeps checking how your child responds.

  4. Ask a fresh question

Your child then tries a new question without the same help. That gives us a better indication of whether the explanation worked and helps decide what to teach next.

  5. Keep you in the picture

You receive progress information and participation alerts while your child follows their lessons. For questions about enrollment, email contact@kiwicompass.online or request a 15-minute call.

Daily teaching is delivered through software. The team designs the content and learning approach; this is not a promise of a live tutor in every lesson. View a sample parent report ↗

Math Foundations Check

Fifteen multiple-choice questions give you a first look at key pre-algebra and algebra foundations. The results suggest topics to revisit and a practical next step. It’s a short starting point, not a diagnosis of every gap.

Frequently asked questions

What is KiwiCompass?

KiwiCompass is an adaptive mathematics education program for homeschooling families with children aged 10–18. The software provides lessons, explanations, practice and checks, with progress information for parents.

Is KiwiCompass a live tutoring service?

The day-to-day teaching happens through adaptive software. Our team designs the mathematics, learning approach and child-development routines; enrollment questions can be discussed by email or a requested phone call.

How does the teaching adapt to my child?

The program uses your child’s answers and reasoning to decide what to explain next. It can change the representation, work through smaller steps, or give more practice, then use a fresh question to check understanding.

Can we use the free resources without enrolling?

Yes. The Math Foundations Check, sample lessons and public articles are available to families who do not enroll in the paid program. The free check asks for a parent’s email; you can get the link now and have your child use it later.

Does the free check identify every gap?

No. Its 15 multiple-choice questions sample key pre-algebra and algebra foundations. The results point to topics worth revisiting, but they do not establish why an answer was wrong or replace the fuller placement and ongoing checks in the paid program.

What does the founding family offer cost?

Standard enrollment is $1,200 per child per month. The first 20 enrolling families after our testing cohort can apply for $999 per month for the whole family, locked for life, under the founding terms. Applying is free and does not commit you to enroll.

How much time should we set aside?

Each child starting the paid program needs at least seven hours of active math work each week. Your family chooses the times; parents help maintain the routine and can follow progress through reports.

How do I speak with the team?

Email contact@kiwicompass.online or request a 30-minute call through the website (both parents are welcome). The application also lets you choose email or phone follow-up so we can discuss your children’s needs before you decide.
